choices for Lent

What to give up for Lent:

EXCESS:

• Words that say nothing to lift up

• Fears that will most likely never come true

• Worries that waste energy and faith

• Thoughts that steal your hope

• Habits that attack your body and spirit

• Accumulation that clutters your life

• Obsessions that lead to self- destruction

• Guilt that robs your confidence

some things we choose and some things are prechosen

If only we could...
paint our own scenery
write our own story
compose our own theme song
collage our own agenda
create our own world
but we can't
We must
view the scenery beyond us
live our own story
hum our genuine tune
piece together the elements we are dealt
in this world's great collage
but oh
how I wish I could change some of the scenery
rewrite sections of the story
rearrange some of the notes in the tune
swap out a few elements in the collage....

leap & choose

By choosing God’s goodness ahead of time I can survive any situation.

By choosing peace of Spirit first I can stay calm in any situation.

By choosing God’s mercy ahead of time I can ignore any situation.

Sometimes the thoughts are hard to choose

Focus words are as hard to maintain for 365 days as a resolution but it gives me many more possibilities.....

Cold and frozen
in the pathway of life
she loses her spirit.
Alone and scared
in the darkness of night
she loses her mind.
Broken and hurt
in the details of living
she loses her heart.
Confused and doubtful
in the day to day schedule
she loses her soul
But she will choose God
to give it all back to her one day.

Christian Choices

To gain unfathomable strength.

To have immeasurable faith.

To know unconditional forgiveness.

To believe the unbelievable.

To hope when things seem hopeless.

These are the choices a Christian must choose.

making better choices

No way to avoid life.
It happens no matter what we do.
We strive to do what must be done,
when it must be done,
for as long as it must be done,
wherever and however
it must be done.
Many days are a consious effort,
and many days are effortless.
The rest we fritter away and forget.
If only we can choose each day--
to live fully consious,
gratefully and peaceably,
sharing our time and story,
giving from our abundance,
and being our best selves...
Maybe the world could be a better place
for all...if only we made these better choices.

Here's to endings and beginnings

As the old year fades...I release old grudges, past fears, former pain & hurt, previous suffering, lost chances, troubling thoughts, forgotten dreams, and things that weren't meant to be.....
and on the dawn of a new trip around the sun.... I choose new growth, future joys, health & peace, less self-inflicted suffering, new chances, happier thoughts, remembered dreams, and things that God has given me....today I choose a slower pace.....

Yes, you've figured it out...my word focus for 2011 is C H O I C E!

• Your perspective

• Your dreams

• Your direction

• Your beliefs

• Your friends

• Your battles

• Your needs

• Your priorities

• Your goals

• Your words

• Your thoughts

it's all about choice

Life may be filled with despair

But I choose hope.

People may be pure drama and anger

But I choose peace.

Pain may be in every cell

But I choose healing.

Dread may be my modus operandus

But I choose to delight in challenge.

Lack may forever present itself

But I choose gratitude of abundance.

Fear may stop me momentarily

But I choose to activate faith.

Ugliness may continue to rear its head

But I choose to look for beauty.

Pity and unfairness may follow me everywhere

But I choose love and joy.

It's about how you live...

Living a peaceful life begins within.
The war inside the spirit is a losing battle many times.
If a calm and still mind is what one chooses
the heart will follow.

Daily Choices

Finding answers to life hardest questions begins on our knees.

Having real joy in life begins with gratitude.

DO I BELIEVE THIS DRIBBLE I WRITE?

I’m not sure some days. Sometimes I think these flowery thoughts make me feel better but then reality kicks in and it all sounds stupid and naïve. Life is what it is. We take it one day at a time. There are good ones, bad ones and lots of mediocre ones. Each is what we make it. Each is what and how we choose to live it. My dad hasn’t complained once the whole time he’s been in recovery from his stroke nearly 18 months ago. He says you make up your mind how you will feel and live each day. What a gem of wisdom!
When will it become my way of facing life and living each day?

choices all around us

choices

The path of life is one

Of misery and pain,

Sleeplessness and struggle.

The path of life is one

Of joy and comfort,

Peace and contentment.

The path of life is paved with choice.

Daily Choice

Sitting in the still of early morning,
everything awakens.
Birds sing.
Flowers blossom.
Grass grows.
Trees sway.
Neighbors start their day.
All have a choice.
A. To make it a good day
B. To ignore life's troubles.
C. To seek a deeper layer of peace.
D. To grow closer to God.
E. To extend His love to others.
F. None of the above.
G. All of the above.
Did you choose All of the above?
Good. Me too.
One more thing. You must choose again tomorrow and the next day, and the day after that, and...well you get the picture.
How you live is a daily choice.

DO WHAT YOU MUST.
LOVE ALL YOU CAN DO.
BE ALL YOU CAN BE.
NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF MIRACLES AND HOPE!

*****

It's easy to psyche myself up when things go smoothly but at the first sign of difficulty, I buckle like a cardboard house in the rain. We have all heard it said, "Into every one's life a little rain must fall." We must remember our faith will help us withstand the floods. We never  have to sink or swim. God is always our lifesaver. Let him be that. He wants to. He will never leave us. If he is missing the we moved and left no forwarding address. Running away is a coward's way. With God's power and strength we have NO reason to be fearful or lose hope. God is our everything.

*****

Positive messages are easy to find but hard to believe and follow. By releasing fears and worries to God we find a strength we never realized we had. He does the heavy lifting and all we have to do is offer the baggage. God will always get it moved and help us to never have to bear the weight again.

Day 165 CHOICES

Standing at the abyss.

Peace on the edge.

Two choices.

I can be captured or choose peace.

I choose peace.
