seeking quiet

the neighborhood roars above the bird choir
the noise infiltrates my mind
the world impedes my soul
harmony is hard to come by
the sweet melodies of heaven are obscured
perhaps the quiet  I see is in the
hidden place the Holy Spirit resides in my heart

In Quiet and Trust

is your strength....
Isaiah 30:15

(this verse always makes me think of my dad, who personified this verse.)

Soul Recovery

We call it hour of the soul.

These wee hours of morning
when sleep won't come and
thoughts won't go.

Maybe if there was a switch.
We could call it time for renewal
and turn it off allowing healing
if for only a night.

But we struggle to do whatever
it takes to find a peaceful moment
where the body releases control and
the mind releases all thoughts.

That's when hope returns.
Peace is found and the joy
of sleep returns--restful
sleep---thoughtless minds
and quiet spirits.
A soul is recovered.

Nature Melts Troubles Away

The early chill

Melts into the sun's warmth.
The dark silence is
Illuminated by God's light.
The quiet dawn
Awakens to a chorus of song birds.
The night's troubles fade away.
Hope and promise appear.
Tears dry up.
The heart opens and surrenders
To abundant joy, waiting to fill
This empty vessel.

Day 273 Seeking a Quiet Place

Hoping to find a quiet place
where peace prevails and
joy is abundant.
Believing such a place exists
I seek it with confidence that
can only work by releasing
the negative and
clinging to the positive.
