a favorite verse

we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed  2 Corinthians 4:7-9

where your heart is...there is your treasure

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:7

earthen vessel

Our bodies are a lot like our homes. We live in them and abuse them and neglect them too often.

If we don’t take care of its various systems it begins to break down, system by system.

Let its façade age and weather without regular maintenance and it shows wear and tear.

Ignore its pipes and it begins to unravel and spring leaks.

Let its electrical system become old and less than functional and suddenly it stops functioning all together.

Ignoring its needs breaks its spirit, kills its soul and eventually it is lost completely.

Take care of your body, mind, spirit and soul and live in its luxuriousness for a lifetime.

Nature Melts Troubles Away

The early chill

Melts into the sun's warmth.
The dark silence is
Illuminated by God's light.
The quiet dawn
Awakens to a chorus of song birds.
The night's troubles fade away.
Hope and promise appear.
Tears dry up.
The heart opens and surrenders
To abundant joy, waiting to fill
This empty vessel.

light in a broken vessel

God's light
Shines through the cracks
Of this broken vessel.
Darkness is gone and
Hope is restored.

Through His sacredness
I reach out to others
With compassion.
Spirits are lifted.

Believing in eternity
Provides peace to a weary mind.
Day by day balance is found
And joy returns to a broken vessel
Now made whole through God's light.
