Uncover your Truth

How often do you attend a funeral and exit feeling so good and humming Lord of the Dance? That’s what I did today. This man was so authentic and genuine. He live a life he loved and one that only he could live. He shared this till the very end. He planned his own funeral and it was full of authenticity and genuine reality of who he was. He never apologized for being who he was and he never hid who he was. He was very unique and such a find family man. A Christian even though he admitted doubts and questioned God.
No doubt you will hear more of my thoughts on this fine man God made in His own image.

i am ok but it's time to educate people about Alzheimers Disease

Everyone keeps checking in to see if I’m okay. Is it weird that I am okay? I don’t think I’m too broken because I was already broken from the past years dealing with her health, mind, decline and so forth. I had already lost my mother. She wasn’t dead but she could no longer really communicate, respond or participate in life with me.

Yes, I miss her terribly but I have for quite some time. I did not have a mother for the last six years or so. She was already with Alzheimer when dad had his stroke. The decline sped up after dad died and the last couple years.

I read somewhere today that once you have Alzheimer you continue to decline until death. That’s exactly what happened. It’s a sad cruel disease. It sneaks up on you stealing little thoughts and memories. Then it begins to steal days and eventually people, even your own family and best friends. Then it removes your abilities to dress yourself, feed yourself and at some point interest in food is gone completely. What surprises many people, is why Alzheimer kills; it is the simple reason that the brain is the computer of a body. It tells the body how to move, the lungs to breathe, the tongue and throat how to chew and swallow and for heart to pump blood through the body. We take our bodies for granted. God is a masterful artist, scientist, designer, and creator.

If only God could tell us how to cure it. For years my family was terrified of cancer. They wouldn’t even say the word. Now, every time someone forgets something, they say, “It’s not that. I don’t have it.”  Sadly, one of mom’s two remaining sisters is following the same pattern. She can’t see it. She doesn’t want to start the medicine. She doesn’t want to think about it, if she can.

This is the many faces of Alzheimer.

                                        terror          dissatisfaction      manic               disinterested

Emotions change rapidly and caregiving takes love, patience and understanding. The caregiver goes through the same emotions as the afflicted. I don’t think I should share these photos but I must. People need to understand the horror of Alzheimers Disease.

Listen. Speak for GOD

Be God’s voice
In a community with no peace
In a place with no answers
In a job with no standards
In a school with no faith
In a university with no Christian foundation
In a family with no Christian teaching
In a life with no hope
In a friendship with no principles
In an organization with no code of conduct
In a marriage with no morals
In a world with no truth

It’s time for Christians to step up, speak and be the voice of God’s truth, his word, his teaching and his purpose.

I want to be that person or part of that group of persons. It is time to be strong, faithful and speak for God in a world that no longer knows he is real. It is time as believers we speak up and loudly. We don’t know how many voices it will take and we don’t know who will be that one voice heard, that one voice that makes sense.

In a world where war and terrorism threaten every day and crime is on the rise, God is the only hope we have. People are listening to a confused world lacking Christian beliefs. Too many people do not know God’s commandments and if they do, they may not realize their relevance in today’s world, now more than ever. Children are raised in homes without Christian values. People don’t believe God made them who they are for a reason. They think God made a mistake in their gender. I’m here to tell you; God does not make mistakes.
People think God’s word is not relevant today but nothing has changed. God’s word and teaching is still applicable to each of us today just as much as the thousands of years ago. I think it is more applicable now than ever. God’s word was a guide for people then and it should be now. He gave people human emotions and needs. He gave them a gift of choice. When they choose, they need a standard for making the choice. The Bible teaches us that standard. It’s really quite simple. Think about it. if we all simply followed his ten commandments, much of the world’s woes would diminish. That is doubtful unfortunately. The human species will never all agree nor follow the laws of God. Much of believing in God takes faith, trust and yes, choice but people are too varied and will never all agree. I do, however, challenge you who are reading this right now. If you don’t believe in God and his way, then give it a try for a week. See if you don’t find new peace and hope in this world of tumult and doubt.
