Remembering Mom

 

Happy Birthday Mom! Ninety years! I only knew you 61. I have missed you for two. Fifteen actually, I began to lose you to Alzheimers when you were 75. I love you. I miss you daily. I talk to you constantly. I feel you guiding me and in my heart. I know heaven is wonderful. I know you and dad are happy together with all the rest of the saints from our family, friends and church members. I wish I was there. I guess I will just have to wait a while but I will see you some day.

I’m tired. I’m sick. I didn’t sleep. I guess I will just have to survive. I guess I will make it. If I can just get to Kiawah tomorrow. Yes, tomorrow. Two years ago, my week was cut short a day because mom was dying. Now I am. We all are this side of heaven. From the first breath, we are dying. We cannot slow it down or stop it even. We can make the most of it. We can learn and grow and create a life. We can go to school. We can work. We can fall in love. We can get married. We can start families. We can bury our loved ones. We can repeat this over and over. We can find joy and hope. We can find hurt and anger. We can know God and understand the importance in this life. We can ignore God and bury ourselves before we die. Life is short and if we don’t spend it doing good things for good people, we may never know the real purpose of life.

Working in a series

This group was inspired by Julie Fei Fan Balzer's post today with gelli prints and pan pastels, inspired Birgit Koopsen. Since I didn't have all the supplies in the post, I improvised with my own cut stencil and acrylic gellli prints plus some watercolor and markers.  The single tree is the cut stencil with gelli print behind peeking through.

it never left

we lost

respect

kindness

strength

wisdom

belief

with God's help we will find it again

remembering

whether it's been two weeks or two years or six years....we remember...we grieve....we reminisce

my mom and dad....when the love began....

it still grows in heaven

be God's gift to the world

be the gift God made you to be
 if comfort is needed give compassion
 if joy is needed be the lighthearted
 if understanding is needed share God's wisdom
 if hope is needed express it with God's word
 if answers are needed say a prayer
 if forgiveness is needed forgive them as God would
 if patience is needed ask God to help you

heart felt healing

it is with my heartfelt emotion that I beg our world to be respectful and kind.....it can heal a world that is dying to sin, anger, and unhappiness

don't you just hate having to replace something

we had to get a new printer...blah, blah, blah...why do they change but not improve models? why can't they keep a popular model for life? why do they wear out? why do we wear out trying to install it, learn the new tricks and move on with our day? why do we let this stuff bother us? it's not a problem if we say it's not, but it always is...blah, blah, blah...I'll stick to art!

fresh morning mercies

I will find the path God has set for me. Age weary issues do not win over God’s grace. I will stay strong in my faith to allow His perfect peace to wash over me daily. He is always with me. When I don’t find His all power and divine presence. It is when I let someone or something else get in the way.

Thanks be to God for His immeasureable love, joy and comfort.

I rest in Him!
